Live in the Moment . . .

. . . and if jewelry is involved, that’s even better!

My son’s birthday was this week . . . he is now 20 years old, and he is the younger of my two children.

I have suddenly realized I no longer have a teenager.

Do I feel old? Maybe a little . . .

But my family keeps me young . . . if only young at heart.

Do I miss when the kids were tiny? Um, no . . . haha! Sure, they were cute and a lot of fun, but to be honest, they are a whole lot more fun now.

Since it is my son’s birthday week, I will use an example involving him first. Not too long ago, he and I were going somewhere . . . I could not tell you where . . . but that doesn’t matter.

We got into his car . . . (he bought himself a pretty black Mustang). As soon as we were out of the neighborhood, he handed me a pair of sunglasses. He put his on, then rolled down the windows and cranked up some classic rock.  It probably sounds silly, but I can’t even put into words the pure joy I felt at that moment with him.

 A very simple moment . . . happy . . . not a care in the world . . . and sharing it with my son.

Fast forward to today . . .

My son and I picked up my daughter from her work to go to lunch. She is a middle-school teacher.

As we pulled up to Whataburger (no judging please . . . ha!), both of them were singing quite enthusiastically with the song on the radio. We all laughed.  Again, a simple moment . . . but one of pure joy.

Just a reminder to savor your time with family and friends. “Time marches on” may sound cliché, but is so very true.

So far, I have no regrets . . . and I plan to keep it that way . . .

What does this have to do with jewelry? Absolutely nothing . . .

But if any of my jewelry can bring someone even a fraction of the joy I feel with my kids, then I will feel like a success.
